Pistol Advanced Skills Course

  • Pre-requisite; Participants attending this course must have completed the BTTS Basic Pistol Course, or equivalent (examples); IPSC black badge, IDPA introduction course, police or military training, or other basic fundamentals skills course/training.  And must be holster certified
  • This course will begin by reviewing the “essential” fundamentals and basic handling skills
  • Shooters will then progress with learning to develop the technical and physical skills required for the enhancement of shooting with speed, while maintaining practical accuracy.  Including multiple targets and movement
  • During the course shooters will be coached, encouraged and challenged to always make their hits, while managing these various conditions
  • All work will be done from a holster

Moving forward after the Pandemic; BTTS has combined Pistol Courses 1, 2 and 3 into a Pistol Basic Course and a Pistol Advanced Course. This is in effort to provide better scheduling efficiency and a more reasonable opportunity for shooters to participate in a timely manner.  The old Levels 1,2 and 3 will continue as originally scheduled until they are complete

Equipment Required

  • Any semi-automatic pistol or revolver manufactured to be utilized in recreational shooting sports or for competitive shooting
  • A holster manufactured to contain the above handgun on either the waistline, or thigh, on the dominant side of the body.  The holster must possess a locking or tension mechanism, capable of retaining the handgun securely enough, that it would not fall out if shook from an upside-down position.  No in-the-waist band holsters allowed
  • Any open, iron or reflex sight is allowed
  • 3 magazines or speed-loaders with two pouches, manufactured to contain the magazines or speed-loaders securely upon the shooters body.  The pouch does not necessarily have to possess any retention mechanisms, however they must be able to securely hold the magazine / speed-loader so that it will not fall out
  • 500 rounds of applicable ammunition
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Lunch will not be provided.  Therefore participants must be prepared with whatever food and hydration they deem necessary to sustain them for the day
  • For outdoor ranges; participants must also be prepared for the weather elements and dress accordingly.  There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.  Also consider sunscreen and bug spray
