Precision Rifle Advanced Skills

  • This course is designed to develop and enhance the skills of a long-range rifle shooter
  • The course will focus on the confirmation of zero, scope testing, spotting skills, understanding wind conditions, applying calculations using the scope reticle, and experiencing shooting positions other than prone
  • Depending upon the range being utilized, participants will be establishing/confirming their DOPE out to the long distances available

Equipment Required

  • A bolt action or semi-auto rifle designed and manufactured for long-range precision shooting. Participants should consider 800 meters plus as their bench-mark
  • A high-quality, variable magnification rifle scope, with a minimum of 10 power available range.  As well as having tall, visible, tactical or target type adjustment dials
  • A front-end support system, either a bi-pod, back or other type of solid rest
  • A rear support system, either a filled “bunny” bag, sock, or mechanical rest
  • 300 rounds; match, competition, or target grade
  • At least 2 inert (dummy) safety training cartridges of the appropriate caliber
  • A shooting mat or ground sheet
  • Small note pad and pencil/pen
  • Lunch will not be provided.  Therefore participants must be prepared to attend with whatever food and hydration they deem necessary
  • Participants must also be prepared to dress for the elements (weather).  There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing
  • Also consider sunscreen and bug spray
